Senior Residential Peer Support Worker
Support and coach peers in a residential AOD service, role model recovery, and step into leadership while delivering compassionate care.
• Permanent, Full-time (40 hours per week)
• Based in Manurewa
• Residential service operates Monday – Sunday with a rotating roster.
• Pay range dependent on experience and qualifications.

The Service | Ko Te Whare O Puna Whakataa
Puna Whakataa is a 10-bed, Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) respite and treatment residential service in partnership with The Salvation Army. We provide management and peer support work, and The Salvation Army provide clinicians. The English translation is ‘the spring of rest and respite’ meaning an environment created for treatment and respite.
Role | Nga mahi
As a Senior Residential Peer Support Worker, you’ll still be hands-on with tāngata whaiora, but you’ll also:
• Support and coach your team members
• Role model best practice and uphold Ember’s values
• Support the Team Manager and step into leadership responsibilities when needed
• Help shape a safe, high-quality service that makes a difference

You will have | Nga Pukenga
• Minimum of 2 years’ service delivery experience, preferably within the wider mental health and addictions
• Have experienced AOD and recovery themselves and can act as role model to others
• NZ Level 4 Certificate in Health & Wellbeing or equivalent.
• Strong inter-personal skills - ability to build rapport with tāngata whaiora, whanau, colleagues and stakeholders.
• Ability to role model and inspire and motivate others.
• Effective, time, organisational, and administrative skills.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Full NZ Drivers License
• Valid/Current work visa, residency, or citizenship
