The Service:
Toro Mai a Ringa is a partnership with Lakes DHB under the Te Ara Tauwhirotanga model of care. Located within the community in Rotorua the residence provides support for people who have complex needs beyond the normal capability of residential mental health providers.
Its name means outstretched hands and it’s a place where people from within the Lakes rohe can rebuild their lives and go back to the community.
By utilising different skills, knowledge, and experiences (personal and professional) we offer our whai ora support to build daily routines, offering on-going tools and encouragement to develop, grow and flourish.
Role:
Support Workers/Kaimahi, we believe, are the key ingredient for successful client outcomes. With our model of working, you will utilise your experience, skills, and knowledge of mental health rehabilitation to overcome any obstacles and barriers our whai ora may face.

You will:
- Have a National Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or equivalent
- Full NZ Drivers Licence
- Hold a valid/current work visa, residency, or citizenship
- Have client centred, recovery-focused approach. You must unwaveringly believe in people’s ability to progress no matter the obstacles.
- Have knowledge of mental health rehabilitation approaches (e.g., cognitive remediation, psychosocial rehabilitation), experience working with co-occurring addictions and/or cognitive difficulties and knowledge of Māori health approaches would be greatly welcomed.
- Have a passion for walking along side those in need, supporting on-going goals on the pathway to recovery.
